Student Visa to the Czech Republic – Basic Requirements

The student visa to the Czech Republic is probably one of the easiest permits you can get for a long-term stay in the Czech Republic. The denial rate for student visas is lower than for other types of long-term visas. So if you decide to move to the Czech Republic and your age is between 16 to 30 years, you should consider applying for a student visa because it is an ideal option. It can be your first step on the path of your immigration to the Czech Republic and Europe.

The grounds for issuing a student visa to the Czech Republic is your admission to the accredited educational institution. It can be a university, a secondary school, and Czech language courses.

If you are already studying in a Czech language course at a state university, your situation is even better. At the preparatory courses you have issued a student visa, and when you are admitted to the university after the preparatory courses you  just need to extend your existing student visa without leaving the Czech Republic.
Registration rules for applying for a long-term visa to the Czech Republic

The VISAPOINT system, which used to provide a record for a long-term visa to the Czech Republic was discontinued on October 31, 2017. A new registration system replaced it starting from December 2017. According the new rules, the date of receipt of an application for a long-term visa must be agreed in advance by e-mail. It is required to send a request to the e-mail address of the Czech Consulate in your country.

Your new request for appointment should include:

  • Name and surname of the applicant in Latin according to the passport
  • Date of Birth
  • Passport number
  • ype of stay (long-term visa)
  • The contact information of the applicant (email address and telephone number)
  • A scan of the first and second pages (with the photo) of the passport
  • A scan of the document confirming the purpose of the stay (confirmation of admission) *

* All scans should be in JPEG or TIFF format, up to 10 MB

What is important to know about the new appointment system:

Applicants cannot request a specific date of application – the scheduled date of appointment will be sent to the sender's email within three working days from the day the Consulate received the request.

A request with missing or extra information is subject to rejection.

Rule: one application (letter) to the email address = one applicant (except for minor children under 15 years old travelling with a legal representative)
